I don’t have to answer to anyone but the customer.

I don’t have to answer to anyone but the customer.

What’s my favourite part of being an Owner Operator? I don’t have to answer to anyone but the customer. This makes it so much easier to just focus on moving. At the end of the day, I have no one to report to. I started with oomovers years ago as a helper to Brent R. and he taught me all the tricks he learned in over 25 years of moving around Port Moody and Coquitlam. Brent has retired and I bought his truck so I am my own boss and could not be happier.

As a teenager I learned the business working with my dad

As a teenager I learned the business working with my dad

I’ve been moving all my life. As a teenager I learned the business working with my dad. As I got older I had no doubt that becoming an Owner Operator was what I wanted to do, buy my own truck and run my own crew. Many clients call back for a 2nd, 3rd or 4th move with OO movers, asking specifically for me. I work hard and honestly love what I do. The physical labor is what I like the most and after a long day of moving I will normally hit the gym for a while before going home for the night.

I saw how much I could make by striking out on my own, as long as I kept up excellent standards of service

I saw how much I could make by striking out on my own, as long as I kept up excellent standards of service

I started my moving career doing deliveries for Ikea but quickly decided to move on up to becoming a professional mover. I started working for a different Owner Operator and managed to learn quite a bit, not just about how to do the job, but how to do the job well. I saw how much I could make by striking out on my own, as long as I kept up excellent standards of service. This led decided to buy my own truck, start my own business, and join Owner Operator Movers myself.

On my last paycheck they even paid me double

On my last paycheck they even paid me double

What I always liked about working with the OO movers group is that they took care of my money so well. Ask any experienced mover and he will tell you stories of moving companies that cheated him. The Owner Operator group is always correct and fair when it comes to money and always err in the movers favour. On my last paycheck they even paid me double.

One time I moved a gigantic globe of the Earth into the lobby of a building downtown

One time I moved a gigantic globe of the Earth into the lobby of a building downtown

One time I moved a gigantic globe of the Earth into the lobby of a building in downtown Vancouver. The material made it tough to get ahold of and pick up, and it couldn’t be rolled because it had delicate mountain ranges sticking out. Eventually we got it wrapped in massive pads and resting on padded runners. This let us start to maneuver it into then out of the truck. I’m still proud to have pulled this move off without even minor damages.

That old truck has completed more moves than I can count

That old truck has completed more moves than I can count

I have been moving many years out of Maple Ridge and I think I will retire this year and sell my truck to my helper Chris. He has been with me more than three years now and the Owner Operators Vancouver group can provide him with financing. That old truck has completed more moves than I can count but it will be a good beginner truck for him and has a lot more moves in it yet. I am sure Chris and that truck will be a successful team.

Careful packing and organization of your belongings can cut hours off the job time

Careful packing and organization of your belongings can cut hours off the job time

My best piece of moving advice would be that preparation is key. Careful packing and organization of your belongings can cut hours off the job time. It not only cuts down on the amount of trips needed to and from the moving truck, but proper packing makes it easier for me to maneuver all your belongings into one truck load. Everyone wins because you pay less and I make it home on time to Burnaby for dinner.

There have even been a few times when my wife, Swallow helped out

My dad was a mover and I began moving when I was 13 years old. Everyone in my family has helped me with my moving company all over the Fraser Valley from our base here in Abbotsford. There have even been a few times when my wife, Swallow helped out and she definitely proved that women can work as hard as men. We always liked to think of our job as our family helping your family.

I took the jump to start moving full time in 2008

I took the jump to start moving full time in 2008

I started out moving odds and ends around Vancouver in a borrowed friend’s truck as a side gig. Moving started to take up more and more of my time and I took the jump to start moving full time in 2008. I bought my own truck and started working with Owner Operator Movers. I paid off my truck in no time and never looked back.

Local & Long Distance Moving Services

Send me to the big city so I can enjoy coming home

Coquitlam Local Movers

OO movers began as local moving company in Metro Vancouver more than 36 years ago and has grown to incorporate movers all around Western Canada. Our Tri Cities moving team services the Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody. Whether you are moving to Richmond, Surrey, Vancouver, or Burnaby, we can book you a top tier mover.

Our Coquitlam team usually does condominium, apartment, and household moves, but they are also skilled at small moves such as SFU student moves or senior moves. Additionally, we can be booked for commercial moves and deliveries, or for office moves.

BC Movers

Moving from Coquitlam to another city in BC doesn't need to be a high cost, long distance move. Our local teams can move you to Victoria, Whistler, or even to Kelowna at economical local move rates. Long distance movers will charge you a lot more because they need to support large trucks and pay for many expenses that are unnecessary for moves within the province.

When we move someone to the Interior, we find that the most affordable way is to load the truck a day ahead. Then we can head out the next morning before traffic picks up, complete your move and drive back to Coquitlam the same day. This avoids you paying for a crew overnight. Careful planning and logistics are the secret to keeping moving affordable.

BC to Alberta Movers

At OO movers, we regularly run long distance moves along the "triangle Run" between Alberta and BC. Weekly in the summer, as well as biweekly year round, we run trucks between Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver. We also do moves from Alberta directly to Victoria or Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Due to having offices in each city we operate in, we are able to offer a regularly scheduled and affordable system for moving from BC to Alberta.

The standard for moving long distance is to consolidate your possessions along with other customers' in a large truck. Sharing a truck keeps the price low for everyone involved. Shipping often allows us to deliver your cargo straight from your old home to your new one, without inflating the price with expensive warehousing and unnecessary handling along the way. Our long distance moving rates are competitive per-pound values and come with our outstanding service for moving between provinces.

Canadian Movers

Cross Canada movers are almost all experienced movers that have worked their way up to owning and operating their own trucks. Most long distance movers are Owner Operators but only a few of them belong to our organization, OO movers. Many of the rest haul for the big van lines who charge you a lot and keep most of the money for themselves.

Our mission is to connect the consumer direct as possible to the men who actually do the work and build a positive relationship where the client saves money and the mover makes more. That sounds impossible, but it doesn't need to be if you take the big boss man or brand name out of the picture. Owner Operator Movers Coquitlam has partners who regularly carry cargo between BC and Ontario, Toronto, Montreal and Eastern Canada. If your move is big or small give us a call and we will provide you with a fixed price long distance moving quote better than any.

Piano Movers and Packing Service

Who says specialized moving services can't be cheap?

Piano Movers

Piano moving takes more than just brute strength. Our Coquitlam piano movers are smart and strong. They use their training and experience to know how to maneuver huge weights like pianos to where they want them. Piano moving is rarely about lifting and carrying the piano, which can weigh as much as a thousand pounds, and is usually about careful leveraging, balance, and use of equipment.

The most important skill required is knowing when to tip and slide the mass without damaging it or the surface you are moving over. Piano moving is the likely most challenging job a mover will ever tackle. Only our more experienced and confident partners tackle this tough job. Visit our Piano page and meet the clever and tough heros who move our super heavy pieces like pianos, gun safes and hot tubs.

Packing Services

Packing is the hardest part of moving and takes more time and effort than the average person has in their busy life. Our crews are experienced at packing and can make this painful task happen quickly and efficiently. Whether you just want us to pack a few treasures, the kitchen, or your entire home, our skilled packers will work with you to keep the cost low and take as little time as possible.

Our Coquitlam Owner Operator movers are family men and care about the future of our planet so we encourage packing with used boxes and reusable plastic tubs if possible. Even the most efficient recycling system is not as green as directly reusing materials. Plastic tubs can be rented and many stores (Especially grocery and liquor stores) give away free boxes that can be reused for moving. Take advantage of the chance to save money and help save the planet!
