My initial impressions with my call was they were well organized and able to give me a specific peice for my move, when the load up crew arrived they were awesome, very nice, finished very quickly! Unfortunately my belongings switched hands a few times before delivery so that became very confusing. They also tried to deliver it 7 days early than expected, then changed that to the next day, which I informed them would not work. The delivery date was changed two more times after that, neither of which were the original delivery date my contract was supposed to be for. My boxes were very banged up, everything was jostled around inside, but thankfully nothing important was broken. One of my wheels is missing and a week later I've heard nothing productive from the last driver I spoke to, so I'll have to just go to the brick and get a new one. Overall I have a mixed view of this experience.

I could never do a sit down office job!

I could never do a sit down office job!

Moving appeals to me because it keeps me young. I’ve been moving in Victoria for nearly 20 years, but feel like I could keep going forever. The toughest job I’ve ever done was a piano move from a third floor room. One of the straps broke as we were going down the stairs, but we managed to carefully guide the piano out of the house without a scratch. I could never do a sit down office job.

In Victoria the traffic is more manageable and it just seems that people are more easy going

Like other OO movers members here who love Victoria, I am an import from the east. I come all the way from Vancouver! I enjoy moving here better than in Vancouver because in Victoria the traffic is more manageable and it just seems that people are more easy going. I have heard it said that Victoria is like Vancouver 40 years ago. I was not around then, but if this is time travel I am loving it.

I like having multiple short moves in one day

I like having multiple short moves in one day

I like having multiple short moves in one day. Doubling up takes the best part of moving (going places and meeting people) and packs twice as much of it into your day. The flip side is that you only have half the time to adapt to the unique challenges presented by each move, like broken elevators and surprise extra rooms full of boxes. There is also a time crunch on the morning move because suddenly you have a hard deadline to reach in the afternoon, but the extra stress is worth it.

I am probably Victoria’s happiest mover

I am probably Victoria’s happiest mover

I feel just having the privilege of living in Victoria rather than any other city in Canada is the best part of my job here with OOmovers Victoria. I have lived in Ontario and Alberta which each have their charms but to work outside here on on spring day is a magical experience compared to the heat and cold of interior Canada. I am probably Victoria’s happiest mover.

Complete unpacking usually takes people about a week.

Complete unpacking usually takes people about a week.

People often seem to forget about their pets when they are caught up in the chaos of planning a move. It’s good to have a suitable carrying case for your pet if they aren’t used to being in cars and you should make sure to keep some of their food out if the move is a long one. At the very least, carefully labelled boxes will help to find your pet’s bed and food quickly that night as complete unpacking usually takes people about a week.

It is a lot of fun moving happy people

It is a lot of fun moving happy people

Most of my moves are in Nanaimo but because I live in Qualicum Beach I get all the moves up this way in Parksville and Courtenay Comox. For me, the best part of moving is to get to see into so many different homes and properties here in the island. There are many fantastic homes hidden in the forest and on the coast. It is a lot of fun moving happy people into their dream homes.

Nanaimo is in the center so I get a lot of intercity moves

Nanaimo is in the center so I get a lot of intercity moves

Small town local moving here in Parksville is mostly what I do but the highlight of living in a town that is a major ferry terminal is how often I get to go to the mainland and then carry goods all over the island. Nanaimo is in the center so I get a lot of intercity moves from the OO movers group. If you have a ferry move please call me. I am a master of not wasting your paid hours waiting in a ferry terminal.

About Victoria

Nicknamed The City of Gardens, Victoria is the capital of British Columbia. It is one of the most beautiful places that you’ll ever visit, as it boasts a unique mix of mountain ranges and ocean waterfronts. You would be forgiven for thinking that you stepped back in time to an earlier century when you take in the beautiful horse-drawn carriages and quaint tearooms in the city. As its nickname suggests, the city is blooming with beautiful flowers that delicately perfume the air. Named after Queen Victoria, it has a population of about 86,000.

Climate

In the summer, Victoria’s weather is warm and sunny. Winter temperatures in Victoria are warmer than the national average. On average, the temperature varies from 11.4°C from 8.3°C.

Arts & Culture

Victoria is rich in arts and culture and hosts a wide variety of cultural and entertainment events around the year. On BC Day weekend, there is an outdoor orchestra performance at Inner Harbour Street. Victoria also hosts the Rifflandia Music Festival which is one of the biggest in the country. The annual flower count event is one of the most popular events in the city.

Local & Long Distance Moving Services

Travelling is the best part of this job

Victoria Local Movers

OO movers began as local moving company in Metro Vancouver more than 36 years ago and has grown to incorporate movers all around Western Canada. Our Victoria moving team services the Southern tip of Vancouver Island, as far North as Cowichan and Duncan. Whether you are moving from Downtown Victoria or from Esquimalt, Saanich, or Oak Bay, we can book you a top tier mover. Most of our moves are in the core Esquimalt, Saanich, Victoria, and Oak Bay areas, but our Victoria Owner Operator Movers also make the trip North to Swartz Bay, Sidney, and North Saanich.

Our Victoria team usually does condominium, apartment, and household moves, but they are also skilled at small moves such as UVic student moves or senior moves. Additionally, we can be booked for commercial moves and deliveries, or for office moves.

BC Movers

Moving within BC doesn’t have to be expensive. Most moving companies charge expensive long distance rates for moves between cities in BC. Our local Owner Operator Movers Victoria team can help you move anywhere in BC at cheap local moving rates. We don’t need to run huge, multi-million dollar trucks and don’t need to charge by the pound.

If you are moving from Victoria to Whistler, the most efficient system is to load the moving truck the night before the actual move. Then we can get an early start the next morning, push through Vancouver, finish your move, and return home to Victoria the same day. This saves you from paying overnight move rates and lets us sleep in our own beds.

BC to Alberta Movers

OO movers regularly runs long distance trucks around the “Triangle Route” between BC and Alberta. Twice a month year round and weekly in the summer, we travel between Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton. Due to having offices in each city, we can tap into this regular Triangle Run and book cheap moves from Victoria to Alberta. We can move directly from Victoria to Edmonton or Calgary.

Usually, long distance moving involves packing your belongings into a huge truck along with cargo from other customers. You share a truck, but also share the cost! Our local movers can help deliver your possessions direct from your house to your destination, without spending money on unnecessary storage. We have extremely competitive per-pound long distance moving rates. Take advantage of out amazing standard of service for your move to Alberta.

Canadian Movers

Cross Canada movers are almost all experienced movers that have worked their way up to owning and operating their own trucks. Most long distance movers are Owner Operators but only a few of them belong to our organization, OO movers. Many of the rest haul for the big van lines who charge you a lot and keep most of the money for themselves. Our mission is to connect the consumer direct as possible to the men who actually do the work and build a positive relationship where the client saves money and the mover makes more. That sounds impossible, but it doesn’t need to be if you take the big boss man or brand name out of the picture.

Owner Operator Movers Victoria has partners who regularly carry cargo between BC and Ontario, Toronto, Montreal and Eastern Canada. If your move is big or small give us a call and we will provide you with a fixed price long distance moving quote better than any.

Piano Movers and Packing Service

Let us do the heavy lifting and dish shifting

Piano Movers

Piano moving is not something to take lightly. It is the most challenging task that a mover ever has to do and contains a high risk of expensive damage and even human injury. Dropping a piano is no joke, even though it is the stuff of cartoon legend.

Not every Victoria moving company has the ability to move pianos. Our piano movers are properly trained and equipped to move your prized instrument safely. Visit our piano movers page to meet our heros who have the skill and confidence to move the “monster pieces” like pool tables, hot tubs, safes, and pianos.

More About Piano Movers

Packing Service

Packing is the hardest part of moving and takes more time and effort than the average person has in their busy life. Our crews are experienced at packing and can make this painful task happen quickly and efficiently. Whether you just want us to pack a few treasures, the kitchen, or your entire home, our skilled packers will work with you to keep the cost low and take as little time as possible.

Our Victoria Owner Operator movers are family men and care about the future of our planet so we encourage packing with used boxes and reusable plastic tubs if possible. Even the most efficient recycling system is not as green as directly reusing materials. Plastic tubs can be rented and many stores (Especially grocery and liquor stores) give away free boxes that can be reused for moving. Take advantage of the chance to save money and help save the planet!
